It’s hard imagining life in today’s world without a credit card. It’s no joke trying to order tickets for the theatre without your American Express card, if like me you have cancelled it. I found I couldn’t join my local gym, order clothes over the internet or even reserve a plane ticket to New York, online, the basic stuff of life. I remember when using cash was the preferred way to buy things.

It is a global phenomenon buying products or services with your American Express credit card without even caring whether or not we can afford them or even need them. Using your American Express credit card may be convenient but there is a cost for the convenience of paying at a later date. Credit card debt is mounting everywhere. It is not a lie when I say the credit card debts are the biggest worry facing the people in America.

That is one of the main reasons why I had to cancel my American Express credit card in the first place. Parting with your money that you don’t see leaving you is easy and makes you spend more. Everything went onto my card and it didn’t take long before debt went out of control. I was in a right state when I finally admitted that I couldn’t pay the debt.

Eventually, I used the services of a debt refinancing agency which enabled me to start paying some of the debt back. To say the situation had become a nightmare would be a gross understatement. It took some time but the American Express credit card has gone and so has my debt. Many people would think me unfair about blaming a credit card but they need to understand something about people first.

When I had to pay with everything in cash, I would know just what I had at any given time. As I said before, credit cards make the cost of things misleading because you don’t take any notice. Spending money like it was going out of fashion and it didn’t take long before it was gone. So remember, if you don’t have an American Express card, you don’t have any worries.

Just ordering some clothes over the internet wasn’t possible and how basic is that in today’s world. It wasn’t until I had spent all my money I’d realize that I had been spending it like a running tap. It’s difficult getting yourself into a debt problem if you don’t have an American Express credit card to start with.
